Temporary Road Closure: Finch Avenue West & Edithvale Drive

Start Date: Friday May 26, 2023

End Date: Friday June 9, 2023

The City of Toronto is modifying and upgrading the storm and sanitary sewer system in your area in order to reduce surface and basement flooding. Due to the depth and nature of the sanitary sewer construction work on Finch Avenue West and Edithvale Drive, the road will be closed at the intersection of Finch Avenue West and Edithvale Drive effective 7:00 a.m. on Friday May 26, 2023, to 7:00 p.m. on Friday June 9 2023.

Motorists are reminded to abide by traffic/construction signs posted in local areas to ensure the safe travel of all local road users, pedestrians, and cyclists. This project is part of the Council-approved 2022 Basement Flooding Protection Program to improve the water distribution system; renew our aging infrastructure and reduce the risk of sewer collapse or blockages that cause sewer backups and flooding.

WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE CONSTRUCTION

Work Hours: Work will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Traffic Management:

  • The intersection at Finch Avenue West and Edithvale Drive will be fully closed during the duration of the work. Edithvale Drive can be accessed from Bevdale Road. Finch Avenue West will remain open with 1 lane open in each direction from May to September 2023.

  • There will be detour signs in the area to provide motorists with alternate routes.

Pedestrians: Sidewalks will be kept open for pedestrian use. When work is taking place on the sidewalk, signage will be placed to provide information about which side of the road to use.
